As an IBS dietitian I am always looking for ways to help my patients navigate the low FODMAP diet. On Instagram @AndreaHardyRD, I talk all about my top 5 favourite low FODMAP resources!

I don’t think I need to say there is a LOT of misinformation out there about the low FODMAP diet…😅

That’s why I wanted to create a quick round-up of my fave trusted resources to use when you’re embarking on a low FODMAP diet (preferably with the guidance of a health professional, I should add) and your head is spinning! 🥴

1. Monash App – has the most up-to-date information on the FODMAP content of foods. Search an item and the app will tell you whether the item is low, moderate, or high in FODMAPs in a particular serving size. This is a MUST HAVE if you’re pursuing the low FODMAP diet without dietitian supervision – it is worth the $10! A word of caution: Do not compile multiple lists or app information off the internet – many lists are outdated or incorrect, and this can lead to over-restriction.

2. Spoonful App – is a good sidekick for grocery shopping and learning to label read. When using Spoonful, it is VERY important that you use the Monash app alongside it. They are best buds. 👨🏻‍🤝‍👨🏽 Scan a food item’s barcode, and if it is in their database, it will be labeled as green, yellow or red. Green items mean the ingredients are all ‘green light’ in Monash, yellow means ‘proceed with caution’ – check the Monash app for a safe serve, and red means ‘likely high’ – check the Monash app to see if there is a safe serve.

3. Our Facebook group! Join the Low FODMAP Canadians Facebook Group to connect with other Canadians with IBS.

4. LoFo Cookbook – IBS dietitians @ibs.nutrition and @thetummytroublesdietitian created a cookbook together, called “The 28-Day Plan for IBS Relief”, with 100 low FODMAP recipes! 🙌🏻

5. @ignite.nutrition.inc blog & e-book – Gotta toot my team’s horn here again 😉. Our website Ignite Nutrition has a TON of IBS specific blogs and recipes. We also have an AMAZING free e-book on everything you need to get started on the Low FODMAP diet.

You can download the ebook for free – link in the bio @andreahardyrd

I hope this helps. Let me know in the comments if you have used any of these resources before!
