Prepping for a colonoscopy can be worse than the colonoscopy itself – and a question I get often from patients – how do I survive the prep? 💩🚽⠀
Today I’m sharing my tips based on what I’ve learned from colonoscopies and patients too – Schitt’s Creek style! ⠀
I remember having PINEAPPLE flavoured colyte and gagging by the 4th litre each sip I took – worried that if I puked, I wouldn’t be prepped adequately and I’d need to do it all over again!. (The texture of colyte is ‘slippery’ to me. I don’t think I will ever be able to enjoy anything artificial 🍍flavour again.)⠀
I stocked up on gatorade & jello. I didn’t even THINK to pick up something savoury or salty- I thought ‘it’s just one day! Just one prep. I can get some calories from juice and be fine’. I was not fine. The sweetness of the prep & the clear liquids was WAY too much. ⠀
It sounds unnecessary if you have soft toilet paper, but I wouldn’t do it again without baby wipes. When you’re on the toilet all day, it makes ALL the difference.⠀
