The purpose of this podcast is to further the work I’ve done through my TEDx talk on science communication. My goal is to get more researchers, scientists and health professionals creating meaningful discussion around nutrition in a way that is evidence based and frankly, doesn’t scare the crap out of people.

Nutrition misinformation is rampant.

My motto is – if nutrition advice online scares you, it’s probably not true. Pseudoscience has reached an unprecedented level in the media. With the amount of influencers and celebrities touting health advice that ‘worked’ for them – it’s no wonder people are confused. Most health information out there is at best, wrong, and at worst, harmful.

Meaningful Science Communication is KEY

Let’s Gut Real is all taking the fear out of nutrition messaging, cultivating critical thinking, and helping you understand nutrition science. I will be inviting guests to the podcast to talk about digestive health, the gut microbiome, hot nutrition topics, and nutrition misinformation, sharing messages that are easy to consume and that inspire sustainable action.

Taking food a little less seriously

I like to say that my number one goal is to get people to take nutrition a little less seriously – which may come as a surprise coming from a dietitian. However, I’d argue we are in a food and nutrition obsessed world – that often ignores other extremely important aspects of wellness in pursuit of the ‘perfect’ diet. If we all took a step back and stopped making our food choices a moral imperative – I truly believe we would be in a healthier place.

Inspiring Critical Thinking in Our Nutrition Decisions

I am sick and tired of nutrition messaging online – especially in my area of expertise – gut health. I want people to critically evaluate nutrition messaging and feel empowered in identifying what messages are playing at our fears and worries, and what messages are actually truthful. This podcast will help YOU to understand nutrition and digestive health, and teach you to debunk common nutrition myths with confidence!
